I’ve been really privileged to be invited to speak at a few upcoming events. If you haven’t gotten enough of me yet, here’s where you can find me for the last half of this year…
On Oct 10, I’ll be in Pittsburgh at the Sheraton Station Square for Flashpitt. Flash work is really where my passion for web design comes from, so I’m super psyched to be sharing the stage with people like Zander Brimijoin from Big Spaceship, Craig Swann, and a whole host of very talented speakers. A lot of the topics are really ActionScript-heavy and Flash-exclusive. I hope I can bring something different to the mix in my talk, The Experience Layer, which is 45 minutes of how Flash can be integrated into a web standards context.
The kind folks at Carsonified have invited me to be a part of the Future of Web Design. Held from Nov 3–4 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, I’ll be doing a workshop called Magnetic Interactivity for the latter half of the first day. I’ll also be doing an abbreviated version of The Experience Layer for the second day of the event.
This event is especially exciting—and terrifying—for me because I get to meet—and speak following—Hillman Curtis. I’ve looked up to his work for a long time. In fact, I emailed him years ago and asked for an internship opportunity, which he agreed to. Sadly, I didn’t have the financial means to move to NY; otherwise, I would have been there in a heartbeat. The opportunity to meet him in person will definitely be one of the highlights of this trip. (Geez, fanboy much?)
Finally, I’m pitching a talk for SXSW (Mar 13–17)with a few friends. (Who isn’t?) Along with Shaun Inman and Ethan Marcotte, the talk is called Web Triage: Methodical Madness. If you haven’t already, drop us a vote!
I’m always open to hearing any ideas that you’d like to learn about in the talks that I’m doing, so feel free to comment on that below. Even better: if you’re at any of these events, please come by and say hi!
