The Persistence of Weatherbug

Never in my life have I encountered an application so determined to remain on my computer as Weatherbug.

Just about to begin a slew of new work that I was getting, I decided to take a day do some system maintenance. 579 MB left on my internal hard drive wasn't going to cut it, so I figured it was as good a time as any to clear off all of the pirated software and stupid little "helpers" I downloaded years ago that now clutter my taskbar.

I fired up the ol’ Control Panel and “Add or Remove Programs” (yes, I am on a Windows machine, but don't worry: the Mac mini gets equal playtime). Starting at the top, the non-essentials dropped like fireflies. Goodbye 3D Studio Max, so long Streamline, adios Kazaa.

Everything was going as planned until I hit the W's. There was one that just refused to leave. One application, standing in the way.

Weatherbug.

The first step was the desperate plea:

Give me a chance — I can save your life!

Next came the attempted bargaining:

Ok, ok, I'll play nice…

Yet, it was too late for Weatherbug. The damage had been done. But Weatherbug had an ace up his sleeve:

I’ll be back

Touché, Weatherbug. Touché.

Man... Weatherbug is kinda clingy, like that girlfriend I had in seventh grade. Did Weatherbug want you to spend your whole recess holding hands as well?

Just thank your stars that you never installed a little app called BounceBully. I have yet to be able to get that damn thing off my system and it doesn't even give me happy little pleas. Doesn't have to because it knows it's not going anywhere.
